The Rules of Play for Ladder Games 1. This is just for fun - no actual prizes! Participation in the ladder is completely optional. 2. For a game to be "official", both players must agree before the game starts that the results will count toward the ladder. Players must record the result on the official sheet (for in-class games) or the challenger should email me (matt@marlboro.edu) the result of the game (for out-of-class games). 3. Each ladder participant must be available to play at least one ladder game during the weekly session. If a player is challenged and is not in class, a win is awarded to the challenger. 4. A player may challenge only those players up to 3 rungs above him/her. 5. If a player is challenged by a lower ranked player, he/she must play the challenger before making or accepting any other challenges. 6. If a lower ranked player beats a higher ranked player, the players switch places in the ladder. Otherwise, the positions remain the same. 7. Any new members will join at the bottom of the ladder and will have to work their way up. 8. Games can be played at any time control agreed by the players. If there is diasagreement, you should have a time control of ten minutes each to complete the whole game (so, in effect, either player can insist on this time control).
