White backgrounds are easier to read, IMHO. (Note that most browsers also understand some colors by name.)

Links look like this.

They come in a number of varieties, and have many options. Let's just look at two simple cases.

  1. A relative link is one who's address is relative to the current page. It must begin without any http:: stuff. Like this: Sample two.

  2. An absolute link is one who's address is specified in full, pointing to any page in in the entire global interenet. Its address must begin with http:: or ftp:: or something like that. Like this: Google.

One last comment:

Customary practice is to sign and date your pages. Just common courtesy, if you think about it. Something like you see below.
