An Introduction to Programming with Perl
4 CR, Tues/Thu 10:00-11:20 in Sci 217 with Jim Mahoney.
Introductory.
This course will explore the basic ideas behind programming,
including function calls, input / output, and data
structures. Perl is a modern programming language suitable to
a wide variety of tasks, including dynamic www sites. Besides,
it's fun. Recommended for students planning on work in
computer science. Prerequisite: Familiarity with computers.
Programming Workshop
3 CR, Tues/Fri 1:30-2:50 in Sci 217 with Jim Mahoney.
Intermediate.
Class discussion of students' programming projects. Variable
credit, depending on the amount of work produced and class
participation. Prerequisite: Permission of instructor.
Statistics
4 CR, Tues/Thu 8:30-9:50 in Sci 217 with Jim Mahoney.
Introductory.
An introduction to statistics, including probability,
sampling, hypothesis testing, and all that. Data conversion,
graphing, simple programming and other related computer skills
will also be covered. Recommended for students in the
sciences. Prerequisite: Math I or equivalent.
