Thurs Sep 100 - Statistics Lecture Notes
- questions
- Run over standard deviation with an example.
Discuss difference between sigma and s.
Discuss what this describes about the population/sample under
consideration.
- Define z-score - (x-Mean)/sigma; do an example and
discuss what its for.
- Show an example of doing some work with a spreadsheet:
putting things in a table, saving as .csv, making a plot
(pie, bargraph, histogram) of some entries, and finding
statistics.
(In my version of Excel the Statistics functions need to be
loaded first; there's a menu command that does that.)
- Show an example of finding statistics with a hand held calculator.
- Talk about how to use Mathematica;
see my MathematicaStatsPrimer notes.
- Long winded dice example;
see my Dice Statistics notes.
