Students have designed a greenhouse that will utilize passive solar heating technologies.
Construction is underway, but the organizational structure for the project is decentralized. For more information, talk to some of the people who have been working on the project lately - for example: Travis Trumbly, Kathryn Lyon, Todd Smith, Philip Johansson, Donald Capponcelli.
Framing has begun! The silo floor is in place, the gable ends are up, and the central timber frame is nearly finished. We have also built retaining walls on either end of the foundation.
Many materials for construction have been donated, salvaged, or purchased with donations to the project. For example, there are stacks of milled hemlock and black locust lumber ready for the framing phase. The glass for the south face of the greenhouse was salvaged from a renovation of Persons Auditorium.
Many supplies and materials must still be acquired.
A large portion of the foundation is finished and covered with damp-proofing tar. Much of the foundation drainage has been installed, too.
