The Computer Science Department at Marlboro has a working 3D printer!

We ordered one in the spring of 2011 but it was built terribly. To give an idea of how much it failed, the printer uses all allen wrench based bolts but when we got it in the mail it came with a philips-head screw driver. Most of the parts needed to be replaced or at least troubleshot.
Over the course of about a year, Alex and Aaron gutted and rebuilt the printer. Finally in the spring of 2012, we began to see test prints. The image below shows some the most recent test prints and you can see a clear evolution from blob to cube.
This final cube printed on the night of February 15th 2012 by one Aaron Evan-Browning is pictured more closely below.
Finally on February 16th 2012 over the course of about an hour, we were able to print out a working whistle. Pictures are below:
