Daniel's Proposed Mission Statement

The HESIMC class is committed to measuring the sustainability of Marlboro College in order to promote environmental sustainability. By learning more about the details of Marlboro's sustainability, we hope to decide the areas in which Marlboro could be most improved. We hope a closer look at overall resource use will also suggest ways in which to improve environmental sustainability.

Daniel's (Better) Proposed Abstract

Every action is an environmental action. While the repercussions can be complex, it is important to analyze and compare them. This report examines the relationship between the Marlboro College community and the environment. The college's performance is assessed over eight areas of importance: land use and infrastructure, waste, water, materials and purchasing, food, transportatation, energy, and education and institutional commitment. We calculate amalgamated measures such as ecological footprint and greenhouse gas emissions. The goals of this project are to increase awareness about Marlboro's environmental impact and suggest ways in which Marlboro could improve upon its current practices. We hope that our report will encourage continued data measurement and ultimately lead to better resource use.

Other sentence previously considered: Some actions have large impacts and some have small impacts; some are positive and some are negative.
