Oct 7 - Sam crypto
Sam read a bunch of papers this week
In the google drive folder
- dining_cryptographers.pdf ('80s)
- limitations of end to end encryptiong ('70s)
- PGP trust level
- KeyNote: Trust Management for Public-Key ('90s) ; early attempt at attributes, i.e. access control
- self-certified public keys
- can we eliminate certificate revocation lists - Rivest ('90s - dated)
- response - McDaniel & Rubin ('90s - dated)
- IBE_ABE (key escrow) - certificateless pubic key crypto
- IBE_ABE (key escrow) - cretificate-based encryption - Craig Gentry
Upshot is that we have techniques to cut down on
bad actors, but inertia and/or not communicating
these better ways have kept them from being used.
