syllabus

ARGENTINE TANGO - ART742 Tuesdays 3:30 - 5pm in Persons Auditorium Teachers: Jim Mahoney and Amber Nuite 1 credit. May be repeated for credit.
The Argentine Tango is an inprovised social partner dance currently popular all over the world, including here in Brattleboro. If you've never seen it before, check out the "Tango Bar" video in our library. (You should be warned that it can be addictive; I've had people tell me that they'd spent their food money on lessons.) Prerequisite: None.
In each 90 min class you should expect some posture / stretching exercises, some new moves, and some open practice time. Please be on time. Repeated arriving late will affect your grade.
The course requirements include
You're encouraged to take part in local practica and milongas.
Details will be forthcoming in class.
Attendance is crucial, particularly since the material builds sequentially. If you're injured or not feeling well, often you can still get something out of sitting in and watching. If four or more classes are missed, no credit will be given. Up to three missed classes may be "made up" by attending a downtown Tues evening tango class within three weeks of the missed class. Jim can usually help with transportation.
Tango is a close contact activity; personal hygiene matters. Please make sure that other people will enjoy embracing you by being washed, brushed, and if need be, scented.
