01-24-12, Switches and sails

Not too much to say for today.
Alex has given me an attiny85, a little piezo, and a transistor to experiment with. I think I'll try to meet with him tomorrow.
I've been looking at a few easily triggered switches that I pulled out of a printer last semester as possible candidates for air-triggered switches.
The attached image shows my first attempt at an air triggered switch.
I'm using a short length of piano wire which has been woven through a piece of thin semi-translucent plastic sheet (vellum?). It doesn't work terribly well. The piano wire is difficult to work with and perhaps a little too flexible for my needs. I think I will try another version with a cleaner, sturdier attachment point using hot-glue.
Right now I think I'll try getting "hello world" running on the attiny85 Alex gave me.
