Your name : Sam Auciello Tutorial title : Knuth Desired credits : 3 Tutorial description: An attempt to understand and appreciate The Art of Computer Programming by Donald Knuth. What exactly do you want to study? Be as explicit as you can, including a schedule if possible. I want dive into The Art of Computer Programming and see how far I get. I will take the flow-chart at the beginning of the book as starting point for structuring the course and I'll hopefully be able go through something like 2-5 sections per week posting interesting exercises from each section here. The pace may need adjustment. I have some alternate ideas for possible lighter reading that I may look at this semester as well but whether these become a part of this tutorial or simple fill my free time remains to be seen. How does this relate to your plan and/or other course work? My plan is in Computer Science with a focus on software. A deeper understanding of how algorithms work seems like a vital foundation for this. What resources have you identified? (e.g. books, articles, websites, experience, ...) The Art of Computer Programming by Donald Knuth, What will be the gradeable products, and on what schedule? (e.g. projects, programs, papers, tests, ...) Weekly exercises and larger projects at the mid-term and end of semester. I'm thinking about a paper talking about my overall experiences with the the work in lieu of one of the second project, what do you think?
