nick's knacks?
- thinking about what to do for a midterm project, possibly some sort of algorithmic composition that plays random notes from a certain key? also want to look into making a drum kit using white noise. I think I may need to work on the project over spring break, but I'm going to start working on understanding certain concepts that I need in order to complete the project this week.
- messed around with the structure of the pulse dial practical to make sort of a drum thing? trying to make percussion that sounds good if put on a metro.
lysha's stuff
- Spent a good portion of my weekend fleshing out my midterm, and feel pretty solid about it. I tried to essentially recreate a synth I own (https://www.arturia.com/products/hardware-synths/minibrute), but add a few features (eg reverb, multiple filters, sine osc, etc). Of course, it does not have a good many of the features that the real thing does (eg pulse width modulation, sub bass, smooth implementation, etc)...but I feel pretty good about what I came up with.
- Spent the other portion of my weekend finally figuring out how to implement a MIDI keyboard (I implemented and mapped my Novation launchkey49), though still having some issues with limiting the ranges of sliders and such. Would be great if we could look at this problem together.
- Aside from those couple small issues, I feel good about the project as a midterm, and learned a massive amount about subpatching and additive/subtractive synthesis along the way. Will put together a writeup, hopefully before class...but maybe over break if that's ok, with sources/etc.
- "faketuria" is the main patch, "adsr" and "note" are subpatches...many interior subpatches as well.
- Re-submitted everything after class with new modifications for smoother MIDI implementations.
