Introduction to the Internet, Spring 2003 |
Note: These are Win2000 instructions. 1. Under "My Computer", "Folder Options", turn on "Show Extensions". (This just makes it easier to see what's what.) 2. Security settings need to be correct. With mouse, choose Start - Settings - Control Panels - Admin Tools - Local Security Policy then click Local Policies - Security Options and find the one called Send UnEncrypted Passwords ... You need to click it to "ENABLED." Close the window, and restart your computer. 3. Double click "My Computer." Under the "Tools" menu, choose "Map Network Drive...". Click "Connect using a different user name" and fill in your username and password. If this is your very own computer, and it will be connected to the network when you turn it on, then you can leave "Reconnect at Login" checked. Otherwise, uncheck that. In the "Folder" box, type \\akbar\home Then click "Finish", and cross your fingers.
