- Waters has been directing, writing, and producing movies for more than 30 years.
- Originally his movies starred his best friends (some of his movies still do), His newer films now star such famous actors as Johnny Depp, Selma Blair, Tracy Ulman, Chris Issac, Melanie Griffith, and Rickie Lake.
- Many of his films contrast American 50's Leave-It-To-Beaver-Ideals with harsh and sometimes appaling realities of today including abortion and 300-pound-drag queens.
- Waters is also an accomplished author and photographer.
