Discuss ideas behind (a) coding and (b) deploying server-side dynamic websites,
continuing what we (barely) started last week.
I'll demo php and cgi on shannon ... where you all now have accounts.
I didn't get to flask, but will do that on Friday.
server project ... tentative
- You may work in a groups if you would like.
- Create a site that lets users read a few books, a page at a time.
- pages: at least
- home ... choose a book and/or search and/or go to your current book & page
- about ... who, what, including your tech
- usage statistics (who, when, what summary)
- Use any reasonable (discuss in class your choices) back, front, and deploy tech - your choice.
- You will be explaining how all of it works to the rest of the class.
- 1st version : due Feb 28 ; remember users but don't need login & authentication
- 2nd version : due Mar 3; add authentication , add search (maybe), other features?
We'll have one more week after that before spring break to
start talking about security, using these sites as a starting place.
