My computer skills are self-taught. I started to explore programming in 1997 when I began to make an Access database for the counseling offices of the THC. I found the trial and error approach both frustrating and addictive! Since then I have played around with Visual Basic some. At this point the material in Chapter One is understandable. The real challenge was figuring out how to make this page. My Web skills are truely limited! I am going to be doing the hands-on excercise tomorrow as I just discovered I have Python on my computer at home.
Hi Nancy. I'd be interested to hear what the stumbling blocks where for figuring out how to make this page ... though I confess that I knew wasn't filling in all the details when I asked people to play around. - Jim, Sun 5pm
Hi Jim. I think it was less about stumbling blocks than self-imposed intimidation. I use the Web mostly for searching, browsing, and an occasional purchase on amazon. Once I got over the concern that I might be spamming the entire Marlboro network, I was ok. The only other bump was thinking that the grades page was the same as this and wondering how to make it non-public. All was revealed today. Thanks. Nancy, Monday 5pm
Hi Jim. I thought I had entered some text discussing the chaos program on my assignments page but I seem to have lost it. Anyway. I did upload an excel sheet that I used to chart out the numbers. I am so visual that I loved seeing the patterns emerge. It appears that the fluctuation increases as the input number increases leading to wider and wider fluctuations. When the constant is increased the line seems to flatten out but result in a sudden and dramatic drop off. Will finish the rest of the problems over the weekend. N.
