Theory paper
How this is going to work:
Talked to Ken; he agreed to look at the sources I have found and suggest any that he knows of; also to look at the paper when it is written and offer suggestions.
General idea of paper
This paper is going to talk about the application of educational theory to undergraduate computer science educational practice. In a nutshell, the few CS educators who talk about educational theory in CS education agree that it's completely underutilized; as a result, many CS educators are trying to solve problems that educational theorists have been working on for a long time. I'd like to write something that lays out this situation and discusses how some subset of educational theory can be applied to help CS educational practice. I expect to argue the belief of Stenhouse that research and reflection need to be integrated into the practice of each educator.

Books I plan to use:
Note that there is definitely some overlap with the curriculum paper as far as the sources; also note that this does not yet mention things I have already read.
- Curriculum: product or praxis? - Shirley Grundy, 1981, 1850002053. Have read the beginning; agree with what she has to say about the philosophy of curriculum; she is really into the philosophy of it all and it's very dense.
- An introduction to curriculum research and development - Lawrence Stenhouse - 1975, 0435808516.
- Curriculum Research and Development in Action - Lawrence Stenhouse, 1980, 0435808524.
- Curriculum politics, policy, practice: cases in comparative context - Catherine Cornbleth, 2000, 0791445674. "this book addresses the following questions: Who decides what is taught in K-12 schools? On what basis? What actually happens in classroom practice?"
- Intelligence, learning, and action: a foundation for theory and practice in education - Skemp, Richard, 1979, 0471275751. Haven't read much, but the title is good and the few excerpts I have seen are also the sort of thing I want. He is a psychologist rather than an educationist, though.
- Innovation and Change - Rudduck, Jean, 1991, 9780335095810. Contains, among other things, a paper about introducing educational change to pupils.
- Researching teaching: methodologies and practices for understanding pedagogy - J. John Loughran, 1999, 0750709480 or 0750709472.
- An education that empowers: a collection of lectures in memory of Lawrence Stenhouse - Jean Rudduck, Lawrence Stenhouse, 1995, 1853592897.
Articles I plan to use

- Improving teaching and learning in higher education: The case for a relational perspective - Paul Ramsden
