Boundaries

How we established our boundaries:
During our initial design process for our assessment, we established boundaries for our data collection. We recognized that we could not realistically measure every impact Marlboro College has on our present and future environments. We looked at information gathered by other institutions and sorted through the data that applied to Marlboro College and developed our basic framework. We established the margins of our studies to the Marlboro College Undergraduate Campus and institution. We brainstormed additional categories left out by other sustainability assessments. After compiling a fair list, we removed sections that would be far too labor intensive or measure proportionately insignificant sources of the College’s environmental influence to be an effective use of our time. We decided on measuring by fiscal year for all those that apply, but decided that it was acceptable to measure by the calendar year when necessary. The summer months might be a useful addition in certain measurements as long as the lower population is stated in the report and taken into account.
