Op-amps 101
- Single vs. dual supply, AC coupling, clipping and biasing.
In class challenge
Supplies:
I will generate a sine wave at 100Hz that is 1V P-P, centered at 2.5V. Your goal is to come up with and build an op-amp circuit that alters said signal to have an amplitude of 5V P-P, with some DC bias.
Things to think about:
- Is your supply voltage high enough to output that amplitude?
- You don't have a dual rail power supply.
- How many op-amp stages will it take? Can it be done in one stage with the components we have?
- Power supplies need decoupling!
- Is your output signal in phase with the input signal? If not, how could you make it in phase?
(Hint: don't forget we already know how to divide voltages!)
