The basic ideas of the course

This is a DIY (Do It Yourself) approach to constructing small gizmos using (a) a microcontroller (the Aruduino tiny computer) (b) various inputs (photocell, pushbutton) and outputs (motor, light, buzzer) (c) simple circuits We will help you learn the circuits and programming (with lots of examples) you'll need. Typically Mondays will be a description of new stuff, and Thursdays will be building & exploring together. Roughly the first half of the term will be small projects that we set, designed to show how this stuff works, using the lab kit. (About $50 of parts we'll sell to you including the arduino microcontroller.) In the second half, you will choose your own project to build, with (probably) additional stuff. This is a 3 credit course, or about 9 hours per week. (3 hours in class, 6 hours outside class.)
