Topics in Algebra, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus
Blurb
This course covers a wide range of math topics prerequisite for further study in mathematics and science and of interest in their own right. The course is divided into 6-8 units, listed on the course webpage. One credit will be earned for each unit completed. Students select units to improve their weak areas. Over the course of the academic year, around 6 units will be offered in the timetabled sessions. Individual tutorial-style arrangements can be made to study the non-timetabled units or to study units earlier than their scheduled session.

About the course materials
There are likely hundreds of online and in person resources available to help you learn the material. To keep everyone (including myself) grounded, this course will cover sections from the following (free) online textbooks:

Grading
Your grade for this course will be based on the homework assignments to be assigned at the end of each section. I will post them under the appropriate unit page as the semester progresses. If you are taking the units covered in class, then homework assignments will be due every Thursday in class. I will not accept late homework, but will drop the lowest homework grade of each unit you complete.
Course etiquette
This course will be what we make of it. My promise to you is that I will work hard to present the material as clearly as I can, respond to questions as well as I can, give you feedback in a timely manner, and be available and approachable. My expectation from you is that you will show up to class on time, ask questions when you have them, actively engage and participate in class, be respectful of myself and your peers, and work hard to learn the material.
Academic Honesty
You are expected to be aware of the college's
policy on academic integrity and to abide by it. Please come and talk to me if anything is unclear.
