recording music
Audacity can play one track while recording another;
just check "Play other tracks while recording new one"
in the preferences.
I did this with the "test.mp3" in the sound directory,
drumming on my desk while I heard the voice track.
Be aware, though, that for music recording the built in mike
on't have good quality. What you really want is a analog-to-
digital gizmo outside the computer, that plugs into the
computer's USB. For one thing, good quality mikes need
plugs'n'power that a computer doesn't have.
Then you select that sound input from
Audacity (or other music program) "Device" choices, or
from Apple's System Preferences dialog.
I have one of these gizmos in my office, and the electronic
music studio has more.
