Number: NSC583 Credits: 4 When: Tues/Thurs 11:30am - 1:00pm Where: Sci 217 Faculty: Jim Mahoney Text: Jeanna Matthews' "Computer Networking: Internet Protocols in Action" and various online resources
An introduction to the various technologies behind the internet, including packets, TCP/IP, DNS, HTML, CSS, and a whole lot of other acronyms.
The course will be roughly divided into two parts: one on internet infrastucture, and one on creating and hosting web pages. Depending on the background of the participants, we may also do a little JavaScript, the programming language that makes web pages "do" things.
Further internet related work at Marlboro (such as the Web Programming class) builds on the material in this course.
