intro class

general info

This is a seminar on using Blender to create 3D digital art.
The approach will be exploratory and hands-on : you will follow along with a book or video to learn how to use this tool. Then share your work with others in the class, rinse and repeat.
We won't all be working on the same project - you'll mostly choose your own topics and resources, though I will likely coordinate things to have some similar efforts going on, particularly at first.
While I have some experience with Blender, I am decidedly not an expert - I expect to be doing the same sort of playing around and learn-by-doing that you will.
On the links at the left of the page you'll find
I'll walk through both of those pages and discuss what's what.
I'll also pull up a demo blender file.
Your first tasks are :
I suggest getting yourself a 3 button mouse rather than using a trackpad or apple mouse - my experience has been that Blender is much easier to use that way. You can pick up a wireless one for about $15 from the bookstore, or an "amazon basics" one for $7. I have picked up a few of these online that I can sell you, and can more if there's interest.
