Work through the homework exercises in class.
Depending on time and interest, also look
at other problems from Biggs chapters 6 & 7,
which should finish the Packing Theorem
and Shannon's Theorem.
Next topic: implementing error correcting codes.
If time allows, discuss the ideas in chapter 8 :
- what a "linear code" is, and
- what a "basis" for that looks like and how to use it to build the code words ,
- what the "minimum weight" (i.e. number of 1's) of the basis code words has to do with the Hamming distance between code words.
