Conference on Energy Conserving Solar Heated Greenhouses

On November 19-20, 1977, Marlboro hosted a national conference on energy conserving solar heated greenhouses. The event gathered specialists from around the world. Specifically, 375 people were admitted from 25 states, two provinces, and one from France. Another 225 had to be turned away because of Marlboro's small size and limited space.
"The solar greenhouse has the ability to fulfill two basic needs: food and shelter."
"In the future, I see revitalized cities that don't draw upon the countryside like so many cancers but sustain their food needs while they employ citizens in rewarding occupations. I taste vegetables which are fresh and nutrious because they've been grown down the block in the community solar greenhouse and not shipped, processed and plasticized from half way across the continent. I walk into a public building and smell the fragrance of life instead of the curing of concrete. If this conference has been the first step, we can make that goal our destination." --Bill Yanda's closing remarks at the conference
