http://45.79.134.85/ has been updated substantially.

Used pageant for SSH login via Putty and FTP. Confirmed SSH is working.

Made several test files while connected through putty using nano before cleaning them out.

Used chown command to change permissions to 775 on var/www/html to allow for FTP changes.

Then, reverted and changed the permission of that directory along with the subdirectory to user noms only. I could have also designated it to a group.

Installed markdown preview extension for VS Code to be able to view submissions without constantly submitting edits (hopefully).

Installed various other extensions for VS Code to handle HTML and CSS the way I wanted it to.

Made a new index page that links to several of my previous projects. Took quite some time going through old backups to restore them. Went ahead and got most of my old code back and stored on this laptop to use as a reference.

Made several changes to the CSS as well as found a new header image from unsplash.com (awesome website).

Spent awhile re familiarizing myself with the code and made making a few changes.

Configured laptop with all the programs I use on my desktop.

Waiting to install Linux dual boot until I’m sure I have everything as I want it on the Windows side of things (received my Laptop Wednesday).

I’m enjoying my new setup for accessing the server on my laptop. I feel like I’m getting a good handle on things.

Continued to add things to the home page for quite awhile.

Created a MySQL database named: webdata , along with user named: webuser with permissions .

Confirmed user was created using: mysql> select user, host from mysql.user;

sudo mysql_secure_installation

Secured installation using and settings below:

Answered yes on the following prompts:

Remove anonymous users?
Disallow root login remotely?
Remove test database and access to it?
Reload privilege tables now?
