This page is seeded with all the resources from the regular stats class. We'll add more as the semester progresses.

Things Everyone Will Need

• OpenIntro Stats book
• Getting R. You probably want one of the following two choices: *free software R; this will get you the main package and you can then interact with it via other text files and spreadsheets. *RStudio, which has more peripheral things built-in.

General Resources

Things Related to R and ggplot2

• R-bloggers. What it sounds like. It aggregates blogs about R from lots (~750) different bloggers. Very varied and lots of good stuff on lots of topics.
• Text Editors:
  • Notepad++ (windows)
  • Atom (all platforms)
• A good collection of many of the standard graph types and how to create them with ggplot2.
• I'm not the only person to think that using ggplot2 in a first course is the best option.
• Quick-R (Note that it teaches both base graphics and ggplot2; if you work through any of this site, be sure to pick the gplot2 path).
• Step-by-step tutorial for getting started with ggplot2 (I've linked to the middle where it starts on ggplot2; they've already talked about data manipulation. I think all you need to know to get the ggplot stuff working though is that you might need to use install.packages if the library commands aren't working).
• Another ggplot2 starter tutorial (seems a bit bare bones, but has a batch of good templates to follow).
• An hour-long youtube intro to ggplot2. I've just looked at snatches here and there and it seems promising. Uses RStudio.
• Basic starter guide to ggplot2 that focuses on the qplot function, which is a bit easier but less powerful than ggplot.
• Another ggplot2 tutorial, with the official Claire O'Pray seal of approval.

Data Things

• Documentation for the built-in data sets.
• The guide to the fivethirtyeight data set.
• The data sets used in the OpenIntro text.
• A long list of varied data sets. However, these are not necessarily primed and ready to use in R.
