Nate's Work

• Started putting together my app.
• Have not deployed it yet so the best way to view the code would be to pull down the repot or browse it at https://github.com/Nate-weeks/student-data-tracker
• To generate most of the framework I ran rails new . --api - this generated a barebones rails app without support for views. This app still has a bit of bloat - I doubt I'll be using anything in the mailer or jobs folder for instance, but significantly less so than the standard rails app.
• I also generated the framework for my front-end in the client folder with the command create-react-app client after installing create-react-app with npm.
• When both are running in development mode my react front-end will be making fetch calls to my rails api.
• I created activerecord migrations to build my postgres database according to my ER diagram in the subdirectory db > migrate.
• I also created models hooked up to said tables and built in validations at the model and database levels in app > models.
• I created seed data to test my database models
• I ran the migrations with rake db:migrate, seeded the database with rake db:seed and checked the relationships using the rails console. some example outputs include:

• I then created RSpec tests for each model in spec > models and ran them by running >>> rspec in the command line.
• I then created an API controller in controllers > api > v1 > classrooms_controller.rb to expose my database.
• I also needed to create a route in config > routes.rb for the API.
• I checked to see if the data was displaying properly by curling http://localhost:3000/api/v1/classrooms after booting up my local server
