Until Mon 3rd Feb
Work on refreshing your Calc 1 skills.
Wed 5th Feb
- Integration by Parts (7.1 in my ed.)
Fri 7th Feb
- Trig Integrals
- Trig Substitutions
Mon 10th Feb
Wed 12th Feb
Class canceled.
Fri 14th Feb
- Strategy for Integration and Improper Integrals
Mon 17th Feb
- Wrap up integration section; talk about applications of integration.
Wed 19th Feb
- Areas between curves and volumes of revolution.
Fri 21st Feb
- Another app TBA.
- Assignment workshop.
Mon 24th Feb
- No prep (but there's an assignment due today). We'll talk about average values of functions and arc length of curves.
Wed 26th Feb
- Have read the Stewart sections on areas between curves, volumes of revolution (not cylindrical shells), average value and arc length.
Fri 28th Feb
- Come with an example prepared to share from one of the application sections /not/ listed on Wednesday's prep.
Mon 2nd Mar
- More presentations and an intro to polar coords.
Wed 4th Mar
- Assignment troubleshooting
- Polar coords and parametric Eqns (no prep).
Fri 6th Mar
- Assignment troubleshooting (brief)
- More polar/parametric/complex stuff (no prep, but there's lots for Monday and no reason not to get started, unless you're working on the assignment).
Mon 9th Mar
- Come with any questions that arise from the first five sections of Parametric Equations and Polar Coordinates (i.e. everything up to but not including conic sections---I'm not sure the division is exactly the same in each edition).
Wed 11th Mar
- Read the Complex Numbers appendix in Stewart; come with any questions.
Fri 13th Mar
- Quiz! The perfect start to Spring Break...
Mon 30th Mar
Is this thing on?
Wed 1st Apr
Read through sections 1 and 2 of the Sequences and Series chapter of Stewart. Attempt three exercises from each (choose odd numbered ones so that you can check your answers and concentrate on the ones that test the main skills). Before class if possible, email me with any difficulties you had.
Fri 3rd Apr
Read through Section 3 of Sequences and Series on the Integral Test. Try a few exercises. Email me before class with requests for what you'd like to talk more about or what you found difficult. You can also start on Monday's if you have time.
Mon 6th Apr
Same drill as the last two, but with Sections 4 and 5 on the comparison test and the alternating series test.
Wed 8th Apr
Sections 6 and 7. Concentrate on making sure you understand how to use the Ratio Test.
Fri 10th Apr
Chapter 10 (parametric, polar, complex) recap. Let me know what you found most difficult in advance of class.
