I'm already a computer hobbyist. Around the age of fourteen I took a year's course in C++. This was my first formal introduction to programming. Prior to that, I had dabbled in coding html. I would reference you to those pages of yesteryear, but they are best left to slowly dying in the past. My web design has improved immensely, but I have to credit most of that to the beauty of CSS. The only other academic training I've had includes the first two semesters of CCNA preparation. I'm still considering finishing that training and getting my first certification.
I'm somewhat of a techy; though I don't pretend to have professional status. I recently assembled my own computer (you're right, it's so easy these days!) and I've been playing around with linux. I'm very excited about this course; and hope it reintroduces me to the programmer's mentality.
The work assigned has gone swimmingly, despite that I've only bothered to update this page at 12:25 AM sunday. I'm amused at the automatic grade counter on the top right, indicated a "late" assignment. I wonder if there's a way to make that time sensitive instead of simply date sensitive.
By the way, I'm ecstatic to use a wiki interface to turn in assignments. The paper I wrote to apply to Marlboro was about the social impact of Wikipedia. It's amazing how a simple idea can profoundly affect the way information travels.
See you at class.
