Go over the dot product homework.
Discuss how that applies to a 2D transform into "wave space",
which lets you leave out the high spatial oscillations,
thus compressing the image in a lossy way.

... discuss what seems appropriate for this topic, at least one of :
- Do a toy image compression : (DCT transform, leave out high frequencies, transform back)
- Read about several lossy techniques (jpeg, mp3, vorbis, codecs & containers) & summarize.
- Read in more depth on one of these, different folks picking different technologies, and then share next week.
