... and databases

The majority of server apps use a database rather than disk files, for ongoing data storage. And most of those databases are SQL servers. So we should also understand something about those are and how to use them.

The flask tutorial, for example, uses a SQLite3 database.

My March 4 2019 notes have pointers to the basics and some exercises .

mini project ?

We have two weeks until spring break. I suggest the following.

Read about and explore Flask & SQLite.
Create a web app using those, along the lines of the flask tutorial
but for a different purpose - maybe the book reader I suggested before?
Call it a "mini project".

This could be done by individuals or pairs of people - your choice.

Presentations of what you've done on our last class before spring break.

I'm open to other options for ways for you to read about and try out Flask + SQL, which are I think good next topics.

We are still heading towards security topics ... I think we're almost there.
